Post Decorating for Renters

My hubby and I rent our home, so we can't paint or put any nails in the wall that don't exist already. (Also no vinyl stickers on the wall, or sticky peel off strips - I asked) Because of that, I feel like there isn't a lot I can do to decorate the house. Do you have any ideas?

In the living room, I do have a nice print on the wall behind my couch - Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, but since I can't add paint, or any other decor elements on the wall, how would you recommend making something more out of what I have?

What about those wall hangers that stick on and you don't need a nail. Can't remember the name. But you can hang pictures that way and they come off and you can't tell anything was there. I got mine at Home Depot. Oh I wish i could remember. I will think and get back to you.

I think the security deposit you give them is supposed to cover general wear - which includes nail holes. That's pretty silly that they won't let you do something that standard! What about some tall potted plants and flowy, colorful curtains?

This isn't your normal sort of rent situation. He's the next door neighbor.. Don't get me wrong, he's a wonderful guy... but I want to PAINT. I might just get some new curtains.

I tend to have this problem too, though thankfully I have a bit more leeway than it sounds like you have. Perhaps some reorganizing so a desk/narrow table might go beneath the print so you could build up a bit of a display to incorporate it? That's about the only thought that I've had so far..
