So, in 2011 we had chevron everywhere and I love it. Never gets old but what do you think the trends will be for 2012? So far, i have heard things about the color orange or tangerine used in decorating but not sure about craft trends.
I want to stay on top it so please share if you know of an emerging trend. Put up your blog link to a project you think is starting a trend.

Love all of the CSI followers and crafty ladies!!!
Your CSI Girl,
Dee

I read an article on ColourLovers the other day that is the first part of their predictions for trends in 2012. Needless to say, they expect to keep seeing owls and birds, and trees everywhere... but surprisingly the article didn't talk a thing about colour. http://www.colourlovers.com/home/blog/2012/01/06/home-decor-trends-that-will-lead-2012-by-storm-part-1

As for myself, being a lover of fashion, I spend a lot of time checking out the latest trends in color and style. I expect to see a lot of neutrals and neutral metallics paired with bright saturated colors.

But crafting trends are a whole other ball of wax. I've always found them very hard to predict. One thing is for sure though. I hope to see more upcycling, and reuse of old things. For example, taking all of those old doilies that you inherited from your grama and turning them into something beautiful, that you'll actually use. http://pinterest.com/pin/12807180159860445/

I'd also like to see more quilting, especially scrappy quilts.

The book How to sew a Button: And Other Nifty Things Your Grandmother Knew http://www.amazon.com/How-Sew-Button-Things-Grandmother/dp/0345518756 has a chapter on how to make an old fashioned scrap quilt. The process does include some base muslin blocks, tho.

And I'm currently making (very slowly) a Dear Jane quilt http://mouseinmypocket.com/2011/11/dear-jane-2/ out of my scrap fabrics.

Of course, if a Dear Jane is a little more than you want to tackle (I'm starting to think it's more than I want to tackle) -- All People Quilt has a nice collection of scrappy quilt ideas. http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/projects-ideas/decorating/scrappy-quilt-projects_ss1.html
