Hi! My name is Amy and I blog over at Ameroonie Designs. I am so excited to be here today on the CSI Project to show you my kitchen makeover.
This is my kitchen. In all it’s glory. You can see that it connects to the family room. Notice the sewing machine? It lives in my pantry- so the kitchen is also the craft/sewing room.
This is the opening into the living room. The brown/tan color you see is through the whole house and after 5 years, I’m ready for something new, at least in part of the house.
This corner drives me crazy. It collects all the papers and things I don’t have a home for/ not finished using. It’s tucked behind the fridge, so it’s easy to just push things back there and let them build.
The rest of the kitchen. When we painted the green in here three years ago, I LOVED it. Well, that lasted a few months, then it was okay. After three years, I am so tired of it. It was such a strong color and made it impossible to switch out color schemes. So, when I found out about the CSI kitchen makeover opportunity- I knew it was just the boost I needed to finally cover up the green and freshen up my kitchen.
Here is the after. I chose a light gray Dutch Boy paint called Nantucket Mist. It had brown undertones so it works perfectly with my cabinets which I still love.
We painted the walls in the kitchen and family room and we also painted the ceilings in both rooms. It took a total of 6 gallons of paint. I love the neutral background I have now so I can change out my decor with my moods.
For now I’m going with this fabric as my inspiration. I love the bright fun colors. I’m hoping to find some frames and other decor items to continue to incorporate them into my kitchen.
And remember that awful corner? Here it is now! I got rid of the file folder shelf unit- it was just to easy to keep piling stuff on it. So I created some file folders that will sit in this vertical organizer. One for each family member. The family book got a makeover as well and now that I can reach it I plan on turning it into the family hub for information and schedules.
This shot shows the truest color of the walls. I love how the calendar looks against it. And I can change out the clipboards when I want to introduce some new colors. I am so pleased with my new kitchen and family rooms. I really want to thank Dutch Boy and the CSI Project for this opportunity because without them this wouldn’t have happened right now and the green was driving me batty. I am thrilled with the clean, crisp feeling of the gorgeous gray and I look forward to many years of decorating my rooms without having to fight the walls. xoxo, Amy
