painted laundry room | The CSI Project

Hello, CSI readers. My name is Carrie, and I share everything from recipes to crafts to home organization on my site-My Favorite Finds. I'm super excited to be here on the CSI Project today to share my {FAVORITE} room in my home-my laundry room. I absolutely love my laundry room....and I hope you'll see why. My laundry room has quickly become my favorite room in my house since I gave it a makeover. Why not? I mean, I spend a lot of time in the laundry room so I want it to look nice. Even though it's on the second floor of our home {yes, upstairs with the bedrooms...woot!}, I don't want it to be so drab that I close the door all the time. Besides, since it looks refreshing, it forces me to keep in clean and organized. Freshening up the laundry room starts with a nice coat of paint. Then, adding some accessories and wall art started to give it character. Here is my laundry room before: Drab, I know. Just your basic white builder's shade of paint. Blech. To dress it up, I started with paint in the blue family. I decided that since my hamper was already chocolate brown that would be a good accent color. Before I knew it, my laundry room looked like this: I framed some of the boys' artwork and added some paper mache letters to the larger wall. I simply trimmed their art and put it in some clean white frames from Michael's. I spray painted the letters a chocolate brown and put them on the wall with 3M Command strips. Since I make my own laundry detergent, I grabbed some large glass apothecary jars at Meijer to fill with my soapmaking supplies and labeled them with some vinyl cut from my Cricut. The picture frame of our Disney trips adds a personal touch on the shelf above the washer/dryer. I also scored some canvas bins at Home Depot during "Back to School" sales and they are on the very top shelf. They hold extra paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, etc. Your laundry room can go from blech to bling in no time with a little paint and some fun details.
