Guest Judge: Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage

We’re delighted to welcome back one of our favorite people to The CSI Project.  Joining as our guest judge this week is Gina Luker from The Shabby Creek Cottage.

Gina has an amazing talent for handmade decor, and she shows it off to perfection at The Shabby Creek Cottage.

Gina’s cottage home is actually the house she grew up in.  She and her husband began remodeling it in 2009, and what a transformation it has been!  Just take a look at their remodeled kitchen, a perfect example of cottage style!

Let’s hear a little more about Gina, in her own words:

“My husband, Mr. SCC, and I have two girls, Lala and Bre. We enjoy our creekside life in our shabby little cottage. Our home is a calm, sweet place to be, wellll… unless there are skill saws buzzing during construction! We take on all of our projects with our own labor saving all the costs, but have the luxury of a custom home on a fraction of the budget.
If we don’t know a skill, we learn it. If we can’t find what we like, we build it.”

Apparently, there is nothing these two can’t learn to do.  And they do it very, very well.  Take a look at some of our favorite projects from The Shabby Creek Cottage:

Pottery Barn knockoff lamp

Farmhouse finish table

Flower pillow

Pink girls’ bedroom

DIY fireplace mantle

Doesn’t Gina have an incredible eye for design?  She tells us a more about how her style evolved:

“I have a confession – I’m not really a romantic homes kinda girl. Once upon a time I loved all that was lacy and pink and flowery, but not so much any more. People change, their tastes evolve, and mine did a 180 about 2 years ago – which was coincidentally after I’d already started my blog. It wasn’t to “keep up” with the other bloggers – it was because I actually started studying design & honing my own skills. My love of French inspired, beachy, farm style cottages all melted into one big decorating pot that is our home – I just never changed my name.

“However, at the root of it all, we do love our shabby little cottage by the creek, and we love sharing our tales of transforming it!”

One of Gina’s transformations is perfect inspiration for our challenge this week, Porches, Terraces, and Patios.  Recently, Gina redid this porch

into a new outdoor space inspired by a Tybee Island vacation.

If this is the first time you’ve had a chance to meet Gina and her Shabby Creek Cottage, then you’ll want to make sure that you check out her weekly linkup, Transformation Thursdays–a great place to “celebrate getting things done,” as Gina likes to say.
