CSI Agent{Ashley} on the case Friday!

All across the world are CSI Agents, waiting to get the call. They are waiting for the next assignment to investigate and to CREATE!!!
In this week’s episode, CSI Agent Ashley went on the case to investigate how to create this light made of rulers.
She has undergone CSI Agent training and has successfully mastered the art of crafting.
She did her training and continues to inspire over at Cherished Bliss.
She can upcycle anything.
Like a skirt into a purse, here. This is a very important skill for the CSI Agents.
She can create knock off’s. Again very important skill.
Like this Anthropologie Knock off pillow, here.
Another important skill is to learn how to craft around and for the “little ones.”
Little ones: also known as your children, fruits of your labor, babies, those set to inherit all that you have worked for.
CSI Agent Ashley has excelled in this art.
Like this puppy dog towel, here.
Agent, now that you have successfully mastered your training, you are now on the case with your orange gun.
Yes, real CSI Agents use orange guns.
Go forth, Agent and God Speed!
Spy work, that’s easy. Investigating how to craft, that’s fun and addicting.
And that’s a mission worth fighting for.

I am so excited to be the first CSI agent over here at The CSI Project! I have to admit, this is a little out of my comfort zone with the video, but in high school I was in video tech and LOVED making movies. You probably won’t know that I was ever in a class that taught me to make movies because there will be some of the worst music cuts ever in the video BUT in all fairness, I used some movie maker that came on my computer so my editing was limited (yeah, let’s go with that!)
So here is my project and the picture that I was given by Dee to “investigate”
Ruler Mobile Yellow Aqua
This is actually pretty easy to make! and honestly if I would have thrifted around I probably could have found a lot of it for cheaper, BUT we filmed all the “investigating” in about 25 minutes. Our babysitting was limited and we were in kind of a rush. I thought about not actually buying the items from Wal Mart, but honestly I have been so busy I just didn’t have the time to go searching! Nonetheless, I’m pretty excited about my painted rulers!
{Supply List}
Lamp shade (deconstructed for the metal ring)
A whole lot of rulers I used about 30, but I had to squish them together for the pictures (shhhh) you would probably need about 45 for the size of ring I used
“S” rings
Chain
Spray Paint (optional)
{Tutorial}
First I spray painted my rulers. I did a layer of spray pain primer on each before the colors. I chose to do two colors so I spray painted half aqua and the other half yellow (this will be the colors of my craft room….one day). I also spray painted my “S” hooks aqua.

Then I tore apart my lamp shade and took out the ring. Then I took my chain and made three short pieces to create a pyramid shape that will hold it up. Then I connected them all in the middle and hung it from one longer chain. I used pliers to bend each chain link apart in order to assemble it. It makes more sense when you look at the picture below (see how they are all connected)!

I actually ended up using the top portion of the lamp shade that included the cone section because there were 3 vertical pieces that already divided the lampshade into three sections for me and my chains didn’t slide around.

Then you put the “S” hooks through the already there hole in the rulers (love it when that happens!) and hang them around the metal ring, and hang it up!
I actually love the “old” look in the original picture Dee gave me, but I couldn’t find old rulers anywhere (I did look briefly because it would have really worked in my house)…. so I moved it to the craft room!
Here is how mine turned out.

I can’t wait to finish start my craft room! I am so in love with these colors right now!
I hope you enjoyed the “CSI agent” mini movie! It was a lot of fun to make. My husband was such a sport running around Wal Mart with me (while I was holding an orange gun). He actually said it was one our funnest dates. Not too often do married couples do things like that! I felt like a teenager again. : )
A BIG thank you to Dee for having me!! I look forward to doing more CSI agent movies in the future! : )
If you would like to be considered to be an agent, please email The CSI Project at dee@thecsiproject.com
You must be willing to make a movie and share a tutorial.
If you love to create and are prepared to take the responsibility of being an agent, email me….. if you dare.
