Challenge of the Week{Birthday Parties}

I don’t know about you, but I feel like birthday parties have exploded with more creativity since my childhood and even adulthood. I remember when a cake and balloons would suffice and people just sang Happy Birthday to you. Now, the creativity is through the roof and all over blog land.

There used to be a day when you had McDonald’s parties, Barbie themed, Over the Hill and now I see parties with the cutest and most creative themes, such as Mr. Onederful for a 1 year old party. Brilliant and so adorable.

  So, to introduce you to this week’s challenge, I have to feature one that I love.

 In my house, we love Cupcake Wars. It even inspired us to have  a cupcake war on New Year’s Eve this year. So fun! Well, what if you turned it into a 13 year old’s birthday party. I call it genious and so fantastic. Let me show you the details.

Crissy, from Crissy’s Crafts is a party expert. I always cannot wait to see her next party and then admire her creativity, ingenuity and energy to pull off these great parties. And she still  finds time to be a wife, mom to 3 kids and Girl Scout leader. Wow, tiring. But then she throws these parties and you are like, “whoa.”

Here are highlights from her Cupcake Wars party. You can’t miss this!

For the sweet table, we had marshmallow cupcakes, gum ball cupcakes, cinnamon kettle corn, cupcake cookies, brigadeiro(chocolate fudge), Girl Scout Thin mints cookies (my daughter’s favorite) and chocolate cupcake pops. To display the sweets, I used baking trays and cooling racks from the dollar store. Before they hit the sweets, they had tacos and chips and dip.

I loved that she kept the decorations simple and fun with tissue poms she made and printables from Bird’s party.

Look for more of Bird’s party. They will make an appearance this week.

{Hint, Hint}

These are the cute bakers that came to the party and the birthday girl but head on over to Crissy’s blog to see all of the details. You can’t miss this and you can also see all of her other parties. Go and be inspired. You can thank me later. {wink}

 So, this week your challenge is to “WOW” us with your very own birthday parties. They can be for the young, they can be for the old, as long as they are fun and crafty!!!
