Welcome back to The CSI Project and to another week of Creating, Sharing and Inspiring.
This week is a challenging one. I want to introduce you to a crafting technique called embossing. This is typically done with paper crafts such as card making and scrapbooking but you can do this technique on other things as well.
Webster’s Dictionary defines Embossing as, ” art of producing raised patterns on the surface of metal, leather, textiles, paper, and other similar substances. “
I know there are many of you out there that are very familiar with embossing and paper crafting, but I have to confess that I am intimidated by paper crafting and dare I say scrapbooking. I just can’t fnd the patience to do it although I did do a small one recently but this young man happens to be very special to me, so I wanted to create a scrapbook for him. I dabbled in embossing and I love it.
As part of the CSI Project’s mission, I am wanting to introduce you to a different crafting technique each month. So, this month it is about embossing and using a heat gun to emboss and for many other crafts. If you have a crafting technique that you want to learn more about and be inspired, just email me at Dee@thecsiproject.com. Let me know and you just might be featured!
I love this card that was embossed.

I love the raised effect and a simple way to do this is with a heat gun and embossing powder. This is a great way to add texture to your scrapbook pages or cards. But be sure to use your heat gun and embossing powder before you put on your pictures.
If you are like me and you are not familiar with embossing and scrapbooking, here is an example.
The words Make A Wish were embossed using a heat gun.
In crafting, people have used different types of heat sources to emboss. The bird cage card featured above used a toaster. If you are looking for a great way to emboss or a heat source for crafting, let me introduce you to my favorite heat gun. This week I will show you different ways to use this heat gun for crafting.
Wagner HT3500 digital heat gun
This is the first digital heat gun to be introduced to the DIY market. I use mine for so much more and I love it. This is definitely a tool I needed for my DIY life. All week we will be featuring projects using this heat gun whether it is around the house to even thaw out your pipes after a cold night, embossing projects on your scrapbook pages and other paper crafts.
So, this week I hope you will be inspired to take the leap and try embossing or to use a heat gun for your craft projects. This week, link up your embossing projects, scrapbook pages, cards and any paper craft projects. We want to see and of course by linking up, you just never know who you will inspire.
As always, here is the weekly schedule:
