Ruffly Patriotic{The CSI Girl}

Hello, my crafty friends. Happy Memorial Day!

I am so glad you came over to the CSI Project this week. It is Patriotic Projects week and these are near and dear to my heart. Why, you ask? Because of this guy. Mr. CSI, Commander in the US Navy.

He has almost put in 20 years and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He is a F-18 Pilot and currently is a Commander.

Mr. CSI may look like a tough soldier and he is but he is a wonderful husband and dad to 4 great kids. We are all proud of him and his service to this great nation.

At our house we are patriotic all year but today I want to share a project I did for my house.

I had an old wood picture that I cannot remember where it came from but it needed an makeover.

I spray painted it a red, burgundy color first. Then, I took my ruffly fabric from

Ruffle Fabric

I love ruffles. Really, really love them and this website is perfect if you need ruffly fabric.

 After painting it I drew my lines and painted the stripes white. I used spray adhesive and put on my ruffles. I went to my craft stash and pulled out some wood stars and I admit I thought about this for a while. Sure I could paint them white. I could add a button or ribbon. But then it occured to me, why not use my wood burning tool and write a very patriotic phrase from Our national anthem. By the way, I love my wood burning tool. Then, I had my very own patriotic version of the American flag.

Here is a close up of the stars:
