Hi everyone! It’s so good to be back here at the CSI Project again! In case you don’t know me, I’m Ashley and I blog over at Cherished Bliss. It’s a crazy life of raising kids and trying to craft in the middle! I’d love to have you stop by and say hi!
Today I am going to share with you a simple project using a wooden plaque.
I am sending this to my dad for Father’s day. I know I’m a little late… but it’s the thought that counts right? Plus I don’t need a specific day to send my daddy a gift ; ) AND these work for any type of holiday…. just pick a different printable. : )
This is a great gift to give! It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s personal…three things I love in a gift! This is especially great for men to put in their office!
{Supplies}
– wooden plaque
– paint of your choice
– Some twine
– Modge Podge
– A printable
Here is the one I made for my dad. I also made one for my husband (from the kids), you can find it HERE
{Tutorial}
One.
First thing you are going to do is paint your wood. I happened to have a piece that I had already painted white. So just pick your color and paint away!
Two.
Once your paint dries you are going to paint on a layer of modge podge and add your printable to the top half of your piece of wood. I just kind of eye balled it, but if you want to actually mark it out.. do that before you put on the modge podge.
Once you have it where you want it, smooth out any bubbles and put on another layer of modge podge over the paper.
Three.
Wrap some twine around the bottom of your wood, tie a knot, and insert your picture.
OPTIONAL: You can modge podge the picture on as well. That was my original plan and well if you can keep a secret I actually did do that, but I got a little impatient and started modge podging before the paint was completely dry. You can probably guess I ended up with some paint on my picture. I had to run back to the store, get another picture and I decided I would just insert it into the twine this time, plus that way you can change it out. Totally up to you.
See. Quick, Easy, and Personal! I can’t wait for my dad to finally see it! Although he might get a little upset for putting this picture on the internet because yes, he is in fact sticking his tongue out at my mom who’s taking the picture. I guess that runs in the family… we can’t take a serious picture! : )
I’m the baby… not the best haircut ever, don’t tell my mom I said that though!
I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial! I’d be tickled if you stopped by my blog and said hi!
