Bonus Tutorial and a Conference Update{The CSI Girl}

Hi everyone. It’s Dee, your CSI girl and yes that is a giant bottle of Mod Podge with legs.

Meet Glossy!

It is so fun to share another craft with you and give you a quick  Michael’s Craft Blogger run down.

We ate well.

Thanks Michael’s and Hilton Anatole Hotel!

We Crafted.

What happens when you get craft bloggers together to craft? We were actually quiet for a change. Concentration!

How cute is Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts?

Heidi from Craft Gossip. She is a fun person to be around!

We made necklaces or bracelets. I am not a jewelry crafter so this was educational and I realized my patience with making jewelry is lacking.

But of course our other craft was more my speed. Mod Podge and paper.

If this plaque could talk it would say,

“Hello Life! How are you? “

We love getting to know Jo Pearson, Creative Expert from Michael’s and judge on TLC’s Craft Wars.

Then, we headed into the Conference hall to meet Michael’s vendors. Amazing!

I will have pictures of that in another post. Just know…..lots of wonderful new products are coming!

Head to your closest Michael’s store for all of your fall and Christmas decorating! Can’t wait!!

Anyway, now back to the reason we are all here. It is Back to School Week and I am sharing another teacher gift idea.

It all starts with a regular brown paper lunch sack.

You know the ones. They are fun to craft with too.

I just folded mine and created pockets. Then, I sewed up my edges and used black thread so it showed up. Kind of fun to sew paper. You should try it!

Next, I took some scrapbook paper that is school themed. I mod podged it on.

Easy, right?

I raided my craft room and found some ribbon that works with my  color scheme. Added it and then decided to use my Dimensional Mod Podge.

This stuff rocks!!!

I made a tag that hangs down. I just cut out an apple from the scrapbook paper and used a thin piece of cardboard

{go dig in the trash for that but shhh don’t tell anyone}

I grabbed a vintage library card that I had ordered a while back like this one.

Wasn’t sure what to do with them but I love them. Who remembers checking out books and having to write your name on the card?

Oh the memories. School just isn’t that way anymore.

I wrote the teacher’s name on it and 3rd grade because my cute little CSI 3rd grader is going to give this to her teacher soon.

Finally, the goodies. I added a  candy bar and a gift card. This is a great way to introduce your child to the teacher or suck up.

Hey, it doesn’t hurt to try!!!

My favorite thing about this project is the scrapbook paper. Love the colors! I also love the old library card because of the nostalgic feeling I get when I see these.  The price to make this is also a reason to love it. It costs $0. I had everything at home. Easy, fun and cheap!

  I hope the teacher loves it as much as I loved making it!

Hope you are having a great week so far!!!
