Glitter Notecards{Whimsical Words}

Hi, I’m Julie…  Mom, Writer, Wife, Christian, Blogger, and CRAFTER!! You will find a little bit of everything on my blog, Whimsical Words.

You can find me on my blog, on twitter, and on facebook. I also attempt to sell my handmade cards on Artfire… Here’s my shop!  I am excited for the opportunity to meet a few of you crafters through The CSI Project this week!

It’s glitter week at The CSI Project… who doesn’t love glitter?  It just makes the whole world more sparkly… or at least my craft table! 🙂  When Dee (our lovely CSI Girl) put out a request for some tutorials on upcoming themes, I jumped at the chance to try some glitter! I had a few card ideas brewing in my head and I knew this would give me the push to get ’em done!

Then after I agreed to do this, I got a package from my husband’s aunt with a variety of glitter colors and I was super excited!!  So I went online and found some black/white templates that I thought would be a great addition to a homemade notecard and printed them out on cardstock.

I set myself up with lots of glitter and a glue pen.
and then discovered that a pile of glue (in a cup) and a thin paintbrush worked better in some situations.

 Here are some photos of the process because I am a visual learner! 🙂

A clean dry paintbrush is perfect for sweeping away the extra glitter after the project has dried.

 The butterflies got a little choppy with too much glue and too much glitter… less is more! 🙂

These were my favorite templates that I got from MarthaStewart.com!

After the glitter dried, I found some patterned paper and sentiments to match and whipped up a handful of notecards. The sparkly glitter adds such a cheery touch to send to friends and family!

I hope you have fun crafting this week and may every day be full of glitter!
