Just another Thanksgiving craft!
This is Dee, your CSI Girl.
I am working on the dessert table and I wanted it to be cute! It is a dessert table, after all!
I love treats that are easy to pick up and individual. This makes it easy for your guests to grab and eat. So, I decided to take a cue from the history of Thanksgiving and make small boats like the Mayflower. Here is my version.
I saw this idea from my friend, Crissy. She blogs at Crissy’s Crafts and throws amazing parties. Really so cute!
See those boats. You can see the complete party, here.
I love these and decided to attempt my own version. I don’t know how she made hers but this is how I made mine. So, here you go.
You will need:
~ small bowls(mine are these treat cups that I got from Pick Your Plum)
~ Scrapbook paper
~ sticks
~hot glue gun
~ Stapler
First, take the end of the stick and add hot glue. Then, place in center of cup.
Now, make your sail. I used tan colored card stock. I free handed what I thought looked like a sail.
Then, cut slits so the stick goes through it.
Now, time for the boat. I took my scrapbook paper and measured how deep I wanted it. I wanted to cover treat cup. Then, just folded the paper.
Then, in half.
Now, start by stapling one side. Then, wrap around treat cup and staple again.
Easy as that!
Love these cute Mayflower boats! Finish off by adding a treat and put on dessert table for the taking. I also made this banner.
I love the polka dots!
I also wanted to make a vase for flowers. So, I took an old oatmeal containers and wrapped in my inspiration scrapbook paper.
My dessert table is going to be cute and very festive! I am so excited for Thanksgiving. Bring on the turkey and desserts. Like these pumpkin spice push up pops I also made.
