I am so ready for Springtime, but apparently Mother Nature is not quite yet! It’s cold, cloudy, and just plain dreary outside this week. So, I decided to get Spring started inside our house.

This mantel was really easy to put together too.

The candlesticks I had painted grey in a previous makeover so I just got some blue candles from Hobby Lobby to top them. I often start my mantels by “shopping” around my own house.

You can find the tutorial for the {Sweetheart} Rustic Wood Sign here.

For the colored vases, I took empty spaghetti sauce jars, soaked them in hot soapy water for an hour, and removed the labels. Then I used a small bottle of acrylic paint and poured it inside each jar. I used Martha Stewart Paints from Hobby Lobby–I love the bring Springy colors! I added a splash of warm water and mixed it so it was easier to coat the inside of the jar and then allowed them to sit upside down on cardboard, moving them every 15 minutes or so to rid them of excess paint (as shown in below pics). Then I turned them right side up overnight to dry.

The hydrangeas, birdcage, and sweet little blue birds I purchased at Hobby Lobby on sale for 30-50% last weekend! I love them!
