Yarn Coaster Yay or Nay?

I buy yarn not to knit or crochet.

Don’t be too impressed but I once crocheted one line.

I know, impressive. Yes, I agree but that’s not why I buy yarn.

I buy it and use it for craft projects like this one.

This is a fun craft to get the kids involved. It involves a hula hoop so kids, hula hoop and yarn.

First, buy a cheap hula hoop or steal one, I mean borrow from your kids.

Just don’t take one from the kids down the street. That is a little harder to explain than stealing from your kids.

Now, take your yarn. We used several different colors for variety. Make life colorful!

Start out tying yarn to the hula hoop.

Look below for tutorial.

Tie each piece tight. Really tight. You will thank me for that tip later.

Then, start weaving the yarn in and out.

Over and under.

All the way around.

When you are done with each color, just tie to another string and start the new color.

You can keep weaving it as big as you want.

We made a coaster but you can make a rug, hot pads and more!

When you are completely satisfied just cut from hula hoop 2 strands at a time. Tie them together and finish off the ends.

If you make a coaster for yourself just add a cup of coffee, tea, or a Diet Coke bottle for that matter and enjoy your day!

This would be a fun and easy Mother’s day gift for the kids to create.

What mom or grandma doesn’t love homemade and colorful gifts?

Have fun creating!
