Remember the days when if you had something negative to say to someone you had to do it to their face or tell someone else who spread the gossip.
The days before texting, before Instant Message and before the internet.
Maybe those were the good ole’ days but the era we live in now is great too because literally the world is at our fingertips. We connect with people from all over the world, we stay connected to family and friends with Facebook and we get the joy of blogging.
For a crafter, it is the opportunity to share what we love to do and the opportunity to be inspired by others.
I love that!
But there are dangers that we open ourselves to when we do this.
People can literally come to your blog and comment however they feel. This can be a wonderful thing or it can be…..well just plain annoying.

Not everyone is going to like what you do or what you create. I think my mom told me that as a kid but told me that shouldn’t change who I am.
Be yourself.
I am Dee.

I love to craft. It’s my passion. I love to create something from nothing. I am quirky. I have never just followed the crowd.
Instead, I wanted to create my own path.

I am a hopeless romantic and have a husband who totally gets that about me.
I am a dreamer. I set goals and love to accomplish them.
I have a heart that has broke before but I always get back up.
And yes, I choose to share who I am with this blog.
I choose to share my creations not for accolades, not to have the most blog followers or to even impress others.
I don’t have the perfect, clean and beautifully decorated home but it is my home that I share with the people I love.
The crafts I create may not be Martha Stewart quality or heck even Tater Tots and Jello caliber (who we all know is fabulous)
but they are still mine.
I think for bloggers we sometimes feel that blogs are an extension of who we are. Its like our “blogging home.”
So, when someone feels the need to leave a negative comment about something we created, it hurts.
I mean, why leave a comment at all. Why not just click off and go to the next blog.
We aren’t asking everyone to love everything we do or to even “pin” everything we make. We are simply saying. “Hey, I made this and maybe it will inspire you but even if it doesn’t, I got great satisfaction out of making it.”
Here is a comment I recieved reccently, word for word.
“Honey….. no…. just no. This is a silly idea… im embarrassed that u proudly posted this.”
Ok, I do feel the need to address this because I don’t want anyone else to get comments like this. So, if we all stand up for ourselves maybe we can help each other.
Bloggy girls must stick together!
First of all, here are all the people who are allowed to call me “honey”.
My husband, my grandmother, my dad but some stranger saying it in a condescending way- NO!
Second of all, Nothing anyone does is SILLY. If they enjoy doing it and they get enjoyment out of it, then it is not silly.
I think it is silly to leave comments and leave no way for someone to address it with you. I think it is silly to feel the need to leave a negative comment and hide behind a computer screen.
Third of all, I am sorry this person is embarrassed for me but I would be more embarrassed that you don’t know that “I am” is “I’m” not “im.”
Maybe you wrote your comment in fury and just overlooked punctuation either way, I am still embarrassed for you, not me.
At the end of the day, I am just me.
I am Dee.
And that is exactly who I want to be.
I will craft on and I will continue to share what I love to do.

A “silly” comment will not keep me down!
Because Mod Podge, glitter and paint will always keep me crafting!
Continue to do what you love!
Always remember to Create, Share and Inspire!
Much love,
Dee
Your CSI Girl who will never stop dreaming, creating and loving!
