Mixed Media Art involves using more than one medium. I also like to add different textures. For this “Patriotic Bird”, I used objects of different textures, mod podge, hot glue and paint. I also pulled out Scrabble Tiles because why not? They are cute and I get 3 points for my word.

First, I painted my bird to look like an American flag. Then sanded it for more of a rustic look. My inspiration was the Betsy Ross Flag of old.

Then, I added some found objects like denim, buttons and scrapbook paper. A little Mod Podge and bada bing!!! You have a Mixed Media Craft.

Mixed Media is fun and creative. Stretch your creative muscles and just explore what you can do. This project started out one way and by the end, it was just what I wanted.

Summer, to me, is always about enjoying what makes America great. From road trips to soaking up the summer sun and 4th of July festivities so I wanted to create something that reminded me of all of that. Birds fly without a care in the world. They are free to spread the wings and fly. So are you!

Always remember to Create.Share.Inspire!
