With every holiday, decorating my dining room table is on the list as super-duper important to me. I love having a separate table/dining room for holidays because it takes us from our everyday dining to “special” dining.
I also challenge myself to create a new table every year. I love traditional fall colors but this year I wanted to get out of my traditional “box” and think modern.
Also, I thought that this color scheme could also work for Christmas so it really is 2 holidays in 1.
This table started with the inspiration of wrapping paper that I bought after Christmas last year. Black and white, polka dots. I also envisioned pops of gold, modern touches as well as rustic pieces.
Whew, that is a lot going on!
I first laid down a table cloth and then made a runner with the wrapping paper. That was my base. Then, I took wood pieces and laid them out. These would hold pumpkins and the golden wheat centerpiece. I then filled in with gold accents, pumpkins and added my dishes. I used gold chargers and plain white plates.

I hope that you will create a beautiful tablescape this Thanksgiving. Whether you are hosting a big formal dinner, or just close family, decorating your table can add to the memories made that day.
I will show you soon how this table can easily be transformed into a Christmas tablescape with just a few pieces.
I will also show you how I made the pilgrim hat place cards.
