Upcycled Headboard

Organization has been the word for the month of January.

I always had hooks by the front door for the dog’s leashes, hats, bags etc. But we always go through the laundry room to the garage to leave so I needed a solution that made sense.

A friend gave me 2 vintage twin headboards and that stayed in the garage for years. Years! But then one day……….. They became an organization solution!

I loved the look of the headboards so I didn’t want to paint them or touch them for that matter. All I did was use a saw to remove the legs.

I knew I wanted it to be used to hang the leashes, bags, etc, so I needed hooks.

I took a wood board with pegs that I found a thrift store for $1 and glued it on with wood glue.

So, literally, this project cost me a $1. Everything else I had at home.

Now, we can just grab the leashes or bags on the way out the door.

The actual door that we go out of. We never go out the front door. I can’t believe it took me this long to figure this out.

I have one more vintage headboard left and I am excited to see what I come up with. Upcycling is so fun because you are giving new life to a discarded item.

What would you do with an old headboard?
