Time to Link Up for the Slipcover/Upholstery Challenge!

With spring in the air, we are all looking for ways to freshen up our homes.

Reupholstering or slipcovering worn, torn, and stained pieces can breathe new life into out-of-date furniture.  With so many fabrics, trims, and techniques to choose from, the possibilities are limitless.  It will be so exciting during this challenge to see how you gave tired objects brand new looks with a little fabric and a lot of enthusiasm!Slipcovered Sectional at the Nesting Place

We’ve been given some great ideas already this week from two guest bloggers.  Take a look at the transformations that took place in their tutorials:

Amy from Design Intervention turned this worn out old chair….

….into this striped stunner!

And from The Country Chic Cottage, Angie showed us how she took a plain plastic  stool…..

….and transformed it into a darling shabby-chic footstool!

Thanks for the tips and inspiration, Amy and Angie!  We’re so glad you visited.

Guess who else is joining us this week, at the CSI Project?  Our guest judge, the always delightful Traci from Beneath My Heart.

Traci is no stranger to giving new life to old things.  In fact, she’s been doing it on a grand scale for years, now.  She tells us,

“My husband and I love working together on all types of projects, but we particularly enjoy taking an older home and fixing it up. We are in our fourth project home, and are having a blast updating it.”

Check out her gorgeous master bedroom redo!

We love that Traci can appreciate beauty on a budget.  She says,

“As a stay-at-home mom for the last 11 years, living on just one income, and raising four precious, rambunctious boys, I felt I didn’t have the time or money to have a beautiful home.

Boy, was I wrong!

Instead of just looking at pictures of beautiful homes in magazines and wishing mine looked the same, I decided to try and create the same looks at a fraction of the cost.”

Traci is not afraid to spruce up an old piece of furniture with fabric and a staple gun, either.  Take a look at some of her very own slipcover and upholstery projects:

We’re so excited to have Traci here to judge your projects, this week! She’ll look at each entry, select an overall challenge winner, and name 10 additional top picks.  Plus, we CSI Girls will name our three personal favorites! The winners can take a button back to their own blogs to show off.

One lucky entry will be randomly selected to take home the giveaway prize sponsored this week by {just.lovely.things}.  Thank you, Heather, for being our sponsor!

Here’s how things work each week at our link up:

1. All entries for this challenge need to incorporate the challenge’s theme. We are not simply a linky party. We have a specific theme for each week. All submissions are competing to be the judge’s top pick. If your project does not incorporate the theme we will have to remove it.

2. When you enter the challenge, please enter the link to the specific post on your blog that relates to the project — not to your general blog. This will help when a year from now, for example, someone who visits the site can find your project directly.

3. The CSI Project button must be in your blog post. HERE are the buttons. This makes it easy for other people to come over and join in the challenge if they like – and for us to know that we have the correct entry in the challenge when we’re judging. And if you use an older post, please update it so it’s current. If you don’t want to update it, please add the button to that post and to the sidebar for the week of the contest. Thanks!

4. The project you submit must be your own project and something you have made. (It can be inspired by something someone else has done, but it must be your creation.)

5. We ask that you are a CSI follower or subscriber to win the prizes. The more followers the site has — the more giveaways we are able to host

6. If you enter a project into our challenge, we ask that you please leave comments on at least 2 other entries in the contest. Not only is it nice to do, but it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends.

7. By entering, you give us permission to spotlight your projects – we will give you credit and link back to your blog. You are welcome to enter as many themed projects as you like! You also give us permission to add your name to our newsletter list. If you wish to unsubscribe you may do so at any time.

We can’t wait to see what you’ve been working on!  Link up below.
